Basic Morning Skin Care Routine

It is very important that we follow a skin care routine based on our skin concerns. During the day, our skin should be equipped in protect mode to help lessen the appearance of skin aging.  Daytime is warmer and can expose your skin to harsh environment changes that can cause irritation. Thus, your morning skin care routine should only be light but can leave your skin protected throughout the day.

Here are 6 steps you can follow:

Step 1: Drink water

Drinking water in the morning has proven a lot of health benefits especially if you take it as soon as you wake up. The fact is that, skin is an organ. And just like any body organ, it is made of up of cells which is also made up of water. So, water will play an important role in keeping your body organs function at its best.

Water will keep your skin hydrated and looks energized. If you’re not getting enough water intakes, your skin will turn out dry, tight and flaky which in turn is more prone to wrinkling.

Step 2: Cleanse

Though you have already cleansed your face last night, it is advisable that you wash your face in the morning to clear out the excess sebum produced overnight. But this may depend on your skin type, so if you have sensitive skin, then once a day is enough.

Step 3: Exfoliate

Exfoliation is one of the important aspects in your skin care routine. When done regularly, it can help prevent skin infections and acne breakouts since it helps unclog your pores from oil and dirt thus, will leave your skin soft and smooth.

Exfoliating can give you great benefits that can help maintain healthy and glowing skin. However, this can only be done once or thrice a week depending on your skin type. Take note that exfoliation must be done with utmost care else it can be disadvantageous if done excessively.

Step 4: Tone

Most skin care routines skip this step. But it is suggested to include toning because it helps balance your skin and prepare it for moisturizing. It is a part of the skin’s cleansing process and functions in removing dirt and oil left behind by cleansing. Choose toners that are alcohol free and suited with your skin type for optimum results.

Step 5: Moisturize

When you apply moisturisers, you’re helping your skin to be given adequate moisture and help prevent it from drying out. It also acts a protective layer from pollutants thus can make your skin feel balanced.

During the day, it is best to opt for lightweight moisturisers. Better if is already has sunscreen or choose a tinted moisturiser instead, it can save you time in applying plus you’ll get two benefits in one.

Step 6: Protect

And for the last step, apply sunscreen. This is a major must for those with sensitive skin. It acts as shield against the harmful UV rays which penetrates every time your skin is exposed to the sun. Sun damaged skin can result to wrinkles, brown spot, uneven skin tone and a lot more. To prevent the skin from getting damaged, it is therefore advisable to use sunscreen every day.

There you have it! Though, not all steps given are required to be done on a daily basis. Just do the basics: drink water, cleanse, moisturize and protect and you’re good to go!

Cleaning your skin will only take a few minutes but will help keep your skin looking young and healthy. After all, a great looking skin can boost your self confidence and make you feel better about yourself, which can reflect you having a positive outlook in all aspects of life.
